Historic Crockett Theatre

Lawrenceburg's art deco Crockett Theatre was built in 1950, complete with a custom-laid terrazzo lobby floor, and is one of the few theatres from this era still operating in the United States. It is listed on the National Historic Registry and has been lovingly refurbished by the Crockett Theatre Board. Lawrenceburg has an active and talented Community Theatre Board that produces plays throughout the year, including a Christmas play. James D. Vaughan Museum

The glorious history of Southern Gospel Music comes alive in the James D. Vaughan Museum in historic Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The museum honors the Father of Southern Gospel Music, James D. Vaughan, who sponsored the first professional southern gospel quartets, established the first southern gospel magazine, recorded the first southern gospel quartets, established the first southern gospel music radio station and taught the South how to sing with the renowned Vaughan School of Music.
